The fully accredited Army JROTC Program of Instruction is designed to develop responsible, engaged citizens and directly supports the APS mission that, “with a caring culture of trust and collaboration, every student will graduate ready for college and career.” Every class, event, and activity is intentionally designed to provide leadership development and practical life-skills growth for nearly 3,000 cadets. Our highly trained and dedicated instructors continue their service to the nation by sharing real-world professional experience, delivering high-quality instruction, and instilling self-discipline, responsibility, and self-confidence in every cadet. We continuously strive to improve in all we do as we pursue our guiding goal and motto: “Leadership Excellence.”
Curriculum
The JROTC curriculum provides equitable, rigorous, and relevant learning experiences for all cadets through a performance-based, learner-centered approach. Instruction develops core abilities including life-long learning, communication, responsible decision-making, citizenship, respect for others, and critical thinking. Lessons follow a four-part model that motivates cadets, introduces new knowledge, reinforces competency through practice, and applies learning to real-world situations, while promoting collaboration, reflection, and interdisciplinary integration. The curriculum aligns with Common Core State Standards and Career and Technical Education clusters and includes leadership, health and wellness, physical fitness, first aid, geography, American history and government, communications, and emotional intelligence. Technology is integrated throughout instruction and assessment to enhance engagement, and cadets participate in co-curricular activities that reinforce classroom learning.
